A New Layout

Welcome to the brand new eFarkas.com!

I am working on a completely new concept for my website, trying to implement a blog style.

In other words, I will attempt to post  on this first  page some current news or ideas going through my mind at the moment. Earlier blog pages will be archived and accessible here.

If you have any ideas about improving this website, please
drop me a note.

June 7 2006: Time for a Change!

It was the year 2002 when I first felt the need for a website, but I had no idea what's involved or how to do it. I have no formal education in webdesign, in fact I have no formal education in computer science period. So I started reading on the internet - I didn't even knowt that I will need to design the website on my computer and then upload it to a hosting server. After a steep learning curve, and a few sites designed, today I still consider myself an amateur, but I fully enjoy what I'm doing. Of course, I started with a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) type software, but slowly moved toward code editing. Today I'm using Dreamweaver and I do most of the editing by writing the code.

The new website...

... is using a template by Andreas Viklund and it is an XHTML 1.1 strict standard compliant design, with a stlylesheet that's also W3 validated. If you look at the original, you might as well say it doesn't have anything to do with Andreas' design... believe me, it does. The beauty of style sheets is that you can change the look of the whole site with a couple of lines of code. No secret, I am trying to copy the look of Microsoft Office's interface... not that I'm a big MS fan, but those programs have a nice look... in my humble opinion.
